Saveur & Lady M

Saveur & Lady M has been really popular for quite some time but it's only my first time trying their food today. Talk about being slow lol.
Had dinner at Saveur @ Far East Plaza and we were worried that it will be crowded but luckily for us, there were plenty of seats.

Duck Confit ($12.90)

This was what I ordered and i was so disappointed.
Initially wanted to order the Chicken Roulade but changed my mind cause this was their signature.
The duck was really salty and I hate potatoes hence, I did not eat the mashed potato at all. #badchoice

Chicken Roulade ($9.90)

Had a bite of this and omg it was sooooo good?? :(
The chicken had a nice chewy texture to it and the rice was really creamy.

Seabass ($14.90)

My friend had this and I think she said it was not bad.

After dinner, it was time for some desserts!! :P Since Lady M has recently opened a new outlet in Orchard Central, we decided to go visit it. Super wise decision! Lol.

Apple Galette (only available in Orchard Central)

This is my ultimate favorite out of the three.
Super love the crust, thick & every bite had a good consistency.
There was a hint of cinnamon but it was not too strong which made it a perfect combination with the apple slices!

Green Tea Mille Crepe cake

First few bites were delicious. Creamy and chewy.
Unlike most crepe cakes that I have tried which are mostly tasteless, I could distinctly taste the green tea flavor in this.
However, after a few more mouths, I slowly think that it tasted average? Not sure why also.

The chocolate mousse was thick, creamy and the chocolate sponge gave it a nice bite.
Really delicious and it is a must order!
I recommend you to share this though because it does get really sweet towards the end and it can be really overwhelming. Unless you have a really sweet tooth, then of course have the whole slice! :P

Sunday Folks (again) & PARK

If you follow our blog you would probably have read about our posts on Sunday Folks and PARK before but good places are really worth more than one post :)

Unlike what most people would do, we had our desserts at Sunday Folks first before we had our mains at PARK. Decided to get the earl grey lavender soft serve with a single slice waffle this time round while my friend got the pistachio soft serve also with a single slice waffle.
Heard all the positive reviews about the earl grey soft serve and I'm so glad I tried it! Really lived up to my expectations. Not a fan of pistachio but the ice cream was good, almost on par with the earl grey but I still think that the earl grey is the best flavour out of all I've tried :)

Earl grey soft serve & Pistachio soft serve with single slice waffle ($8.80 each)

Truffled Mac & Cheese ($12.80)
Cannot begin to explain how wonderful this dish is. Every single bite into this cheesy goodness left me craving for more! Many people claim that this is the best Mac & cheese while few feel that it's simply overrated and I'm proud to say that I agree with the majority. To those out there who love Mac & cheese and even to those who don't, I suggest that you all give this a try :')

This picture should serve as enough of a reason to travel all the way to Holland Village to have it

Nachos with salsa and cheese dip ($8.50)
Don't usually eat nachos because I'm not a fan of those served in the cinemas or carnivals but these nachos are totally unlike those! The chips were freshly baked, crispy, thin and light unlike the thick slices served in other places. The dips were soooo good as well especially the cheese dip!

*** For the address and opening hours of these 2 places check out our previous post titled "Cafe hopping @ Holland a Village" :)

The Book Cafe

Who doesn't love a cafe with a good ambience and somewhere where you can just relax and not worry about the long queue of people waiting for a seat? Especially if you're a book lover, The Book Cafe is definitely the place for you, as the name suggests, to just have a meal and spend long hours reading your favorite books :') Saw a selection of books at the cafe but didn't see them up close as I had already brought my own books there. Initially wanted to spend time with my friend reading our books but ended up talking throughout our 2-3 hours there!

I'm sure most readers like myself love reading food blogs which give you directions on how to get to a cafe ESPECIALLY when it is not near to a particular MRT station, in a shopping mall or located along a road which you have heard of. I mean what's the point of knowing of a good cafe if you don't know how to get there?
So after I did some research yesterday on how to get to the cafe, I found that the nearest station to the cafe is apparently Chinatown which is approximately 13 mins away from the cafe. So our plan was to alight at Chinatown and walk there but after talking to a shop owner who said it was too far, we decided to take a bus instead. Won't go into so much detail about our ENTIRE journey but let's just say we spent an EXTREMELY long time asking people for directions, being led the wrong way, being drenched in the rain that we ended up taking a CAB from opposite Clarke Quay MRT which only cost $4.70 and was extremely worth it! So I suggest that if you're not familiar with the place especially for East side people like us, don't waste your time. Just alight at Clarke Quay and take a CAB.

On to the cafe itself...
It was really nice and cosy inside with couches for those who want to read and proper tables for those want to get some work done. The staff were really friendly as well and they helped me charge my phone because it only had 1% left although I don't think that is a kind of service they actually provide there so thank you so much!! :) My only regret was that I didn't get to take pictures of the cafe's interior , sadly.

Cafe's exterior

I ordered the salmon noodle soup for my main course while my friend had the aglio olio. We also ordered steakhouse fries and an iced caramel latte to share.

Salmon noodle soup ($14.95 before GST)
Read some reviews about this dish that said it was really good but was totally disappointed when it came. My friend said it looks like "yu pian mi fen" (fish soup beehoon) that can be found in the hawker centre and I cannot agree more. Not saying that it tastes bad, it was yummy just that why pay $14.95 for this when you can get even better ones for about 3 bucks?

Aglio Olio ($14.95 before GST)
My friend had this and she found it good! She finished her meal quite fast with not a trace on her plate :)

Steakhouse fries ($8 if I'm not wrong, before GST)
Really huge fries which I thought were worth it! Came with tartar, chili and tomato sauce. Sadly we couldn't finish the fries cause we were full from our mains :(

Iced caramel latte ($7.20 before GST)
For some reason it looks like a root beer float here hahaha but this was not bad! Could almost match up to the one at Starbucks which I love!

Koh Grill Sushi & Bar

Heard so many stories about this sushi place - the good & the bad. Many said that their Shiok Maki literally melts in your mouth while some said that it is just plainly overrated.
Being a weekday & we were quite early (6pm), my friends & I decided to head over to Koh Grill Sushi & Bar to have dinner! Lucky for us, there was no queue at all. But when we finished our dinner at 7pm, there was a super long queue outside.

Anyway, we ordered both generation 1 & 2 shiok makis, yaki udon & pork katsu don to share.

Yaki Udon & Pork Katsu Don

As seen in this picture, the highlight is definitely the Yaki Udon.
It was really delicious and we were actually really surprised that it tasted that good haha.
Just a simple stir-fry with udon, eggs & vegetables and yet it tasted wayyy past our expectations! I believe it was the sauce that made this dish quite outstanding. Must try!

As for the Pork Katsu Don, the pork was tasteless, eggs were tasteless & the rice was ALSO tasteless.
Just skip this dish.

Shiok!! Maki - filled with grilled eel

Had the first bite of this and I had really high expectations for this BUT it totally disappointed me. It tasted exactly like what you can get from other restaurants?

Shiok Maki Generation 2 - filled with tempura prawns

Both Shiok Makis tasted the same to me.
Not outstanding, but still worth a try. It was good, just that it did not meet up to my expectations.
Probably because I have set it too high sigh.

2015 already, Happy New Year!

8 days into the New Year and finally a post. Been quite busy these few days because semester 2 just started and Vanessa just got started on her new job!
Just going to be posting pictures on the places I have been to for the past few weeks hehe.

Waffles with vanilla bean ice cream

Sunday Folks again!

I swear their earl grey lavender ice cream is my ultimate favourite!! Super good & it is like sex in your mouth LOL.

Dinner with the family @ Paradise Dynasty

This was la mian with shredded pork & vegetables - a tasty warm bowl of goodness!
If you want a good bowl of la mian, I suggest going to Paradise Dynasty.

Rocky Road waffles with caramel fudge brownie gelato

Had this sinful dessert after gym with one of my friend @ Gelare.
The waffles was super fluffy & soft, nice!

Comfort food for dinner with the family!

This BKT shop near Vivocity can never go wrong hehe.

Dinner with the family @ our usual Ichiban Boshi

First time ordering this black pork dish & it was really good??
The sauce was not too overly salty & the slices of pork given were quite a lot!

Not full from dinner, so we bought back Jollibean! Hehe.

My favourite kaya peanut toast set form Yakun, can never go wrong.

School food!

This scrambled eggs are the BOMB. Seriously super delicious, really wonder how they managed to cook until so good.

Okay that's all for now! Sorry for the spam LOL. But hope you all enjoyed this post! :P
