Fresh Fruits Lab (FFL)

Finally another café has opened in the East, nearer to the Katong area. If I am not wrong, FFL has only opened a few months back and based on what I see on Instagram, their café seems to be doing well. Anyway, my friend and I decided to give it a try yesterday.

Once we were seated, the staff served us complementary fruit juices served in test-tubes.

Upon trying, we have concluded that the green juice was vegetables and the orange juice was orange with maybe some other ingredients.
Both somehow did not sit well with our taste buds ... So we did not order their fruit juices. Haha.

Masago Caviar Pasta ($20)

My friend ordered this and she said it was pretty good.
However, for 3 scallops and 1 quail egg, she said it does not justify for $20.

The Club Burger ($19)

It has been ages since I had a burger and I must say, the first burger I had in a long time did not disappoint! All the ingredients fell together nicely that I had to finish the burger even though I was already very full.
One negative point was that the bacon was TOOOOO salty.

We will definitely be back for more, especially to try the brunch menu. The prices for the food here seems to be a little bit more expensive but if the food is good & of good quality, why not right?

Coast & Company/ Spatula Bakery

Visited Coast & Company and Spatula Bakery with my friends last Wednesday since it was my off day.
I'm glad to say that both places didn't disappoint :)

Coast and Company is a cafe, a bicycle workshop and an experience store all in one. If I'm not wrong, the bike shop is located just above the cafe on the 2nd floor.
We reached there around 3-4ish so it was really quiet and cosy. We ordered 4 dishes: 2 chicken decks, 1 smoked salmon brioche and 1 coast breakfast.

Chicken deck ($14)
Roasted chicken thigh, toasted focaccia w/ sliced tomatoes, shredded cabbage & green dressing

It really tastes SO MUCH better than it looks! Was quite disappointed when the dish first arrived but after taking my first bite into it, all the disappointment was gone :)
The chicken was flavourful & the green dressing went really well with it!

Smoked salmon brioche ($14)
Smoked salmon & cream cheese on brioche toast topped w/ capers & fresh onion rings

It's amazing how they manage to make such a simple dish taste so good.

Coast breakfast ($15)
Scrambled eggs w/ smoked salmon, pork sausage & mesclun salad on the side

This was a great dish overall but I feel that the eggs could have been better? Was a little too watery for my liking but other than that, everything else was cooked/toasted perfectly.

Latte ($5)

Food and drinks aside, the sleek exterior and interior of Coast & Company was another thing that really impressed me. Loved the reflective doors and windows! :)

Since the cakes and desserts at C&C didn't really appeal to us, we decided to head to Spatula Bakery since it was nearby (5-7mins walk). We ordered a cake (super huge slice) and a waffle to share.

Ridiculoos Spectaculoos Cake ($8)

Not exactly sure what this cake is made of but it was really good nonetheless. Tasted a little like carrot cake mixed with caramel (????) Was recommended to us by the staff there and it's definitely worth a try!

Milo Dino waffles ($12)
Single scoop of vanilla ice cream, condensed milk drizzle, mini marshmallows, milo cereal pops, milk powder and whipped cream.

Personally enjoyed this a lot since I'm a milo lover and have a sweet tooth. If you don't like sweet stuff this probably isn't something you should try though...

Whisk and Paddle

Finally got a chance to visit Whisk and Paddle on Wednesday after seeing all the wonderful pictures on Instagram :) Not at all familiar with the Punggol area so I tried searching for directions online and I'm so thankful for www.thywhaleliciousfay.blogspot.com for her directions! Saved me so much time and trouble finding my way there using Google maps.

Took the MRT until Punggol MRT station and thereafter switched to the LRT to Riviera LRT station (4 stops from Punggol). Upon reaching Riviera station, we took the escalator out and turned right and followed the pathway until we saw "Tebing Lane". (You'll see a temple and also a futsal area as well). Then, we turned left into the car park and walked straight. (If you are able to see Popeyes then you're on the right track). Keep a look out on the right as that is where Whisk and Paddle is located, near the end and next to the staircase that leads to the jogging track/reservoir.

Menu

I must say that Whisk and Paddle is hands down the cafe that has the nicest interior and surroundings.
The fact that it is situated just next to the reservoir just makes everything so serene and relaxing.

Overlooking the beautiful reservoir

There's even a little corner for kids to play at...

Some tiny set up selling old school stuff

Mango Peach Smoothie ($7.90)
Really refreshing and blended very well! Sadly there was no taste of peach at all which I was really hoping for :(

Mac & cheese ($12.80)
Where there is Mac & cheese, ORDER MAC & CHEESE!!!!!!
Saw so many pics of this dish prior to my visit and I'm so so glad it didn't let me down.
Craving for it again as I'm typing this :(

Heaven on earth :')

Salmon Egg's Benedict ($13)
Something different, egg's benedict on waffles. The waffles complemented the egg and smoked salmon well because it was sweet while the other ingredients were salty. Worth a try as well!

Chocolate fudge cake with vanilla ice cream ($8.90)
The chocolate cake was very rich and it was quite dry to me (even though it looks moist in the picture). Also, the scoop of ice cream was super small so there wasn't enough to go with the huge cake :(

Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King Matsuri

Received my first pay of the year last week and decided to treat my parents to a meal on Sunday. Was craving for some ramen and since we had to rush off to another event after lunch, our choice of ramen places were limited to the East. Did my research on good ramen places the night before and read that Parkway Parade had a shop which served good ramen so we decided to head there. Thankfully we reached slightly earlier than the usual lunch hour so we didn't have to queue for very long. (Around 15 mins?)

Was very amazed by this as I couldn't believe that the eggs were REALLY FREE.

Also, I actually hate bean sprouts but I got really hungry while waiting for the food and had a taste of the bean sprouts and they were surprisingly very good!

Green tea cola ($3.80)
Being a green tea lover, I obviously couldn't give the green tea cola a miss!
Sadly, it tasted like an ordinary carbonated drink? Couldn't really get the taste of "green tea" from it.

Gyoza ($6)
This was really good! Crispy on the outside and the meat juicy and flavourful on the inside. (10/10 definitely must try!!!)

Tonkotsu Ramen "YUKIMATSURI" with flavored egg & powdered cheese ($15.90)
Very tasty and cheesy dish which I enjoyed :') Got a little too filling after a while though perhaps due to the cheese? But the meat was really tender and easy to chew unlike some others.

Tonkotsu Ramen "NEBUTA" ($13.90)
Mum had this and both of us agreed that this could not match up to the bowl I had.
Soup broth tasted slightly different and wasn't really to my liking. Also, the fish cakes were add ons, they did not originally come with the ramen.

Matsuri Meshi- Fried egg, chasyu & tobbiko roe on rice ($7)
Dad had this and he enjoyed it. Had a taste of it and understood why :)
Portion is small as well, just nice for one person.
